Job description

We Are Currently Seeking An Expert Body-in-White DRE To Join Our Team In Auburn Hills, MI. Your Missions Will Be As Follows

Responsibilities
  • Take the lead in engineering, designing, and developing upperbody components and assemblies, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into the larger BIW system.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the feasibility, structural integrity, and production readiness of upperbody components.
  • Apply design templates and themes to upperbody elements, aligning them with Feasibility Development requirements.
  • Oversee the progression of upperbody components and assemblies throughout Program CAD milestones.
  • Enforce compliance with System Requirement Sections and the application of upperbody part templates throughout the entire program lifecycle.
  • Establish and refine Standard Operating Procedures for Engineering, ensuring consistency and high-quality outcomes.
  • Drive initiatives focused on quality enhancement, weight reduction, cost-efficiency, and overall process efficiency improvements.
  • Effectively communicate the technical progress and status of upperbody components to management and cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field from an ABET accredited or equivalent program.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Proven expertise in designing and developing upperbody components, closures, or related exterior systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, coupled with familiarity in Google and MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Hands‑on experience with NX and Teamcenter within a production release environment, including participation in upperbody BIW in‑plant launches.
  • Proficiency in Unigraphics, NX, and Teamcenter.
  • Proactive individual with outstanding leadership and communication skills, along with a demonstrated knack for effective problem‑solving.
  • Strong understanding of materials, including high‑strength steels, welding, and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt/Black Belt or Reactive Green/Black Belt certification.
  • Knowledge of Knowledge-Based Engineering (KBE) techniques is advantageous.
