Description
Position Summary
The Project Engineer - Aviation Engineering will provide entry-level project oversight on airport design projects. This role involves developing plans, quantities, specifications, and reviews for aviation related project. The project engineer should be familiar with design standards, how to read them, and be comfortable utilizing the manual to design taxiways, runways, and aprons.
Responsibilities include delivering design work on-time, developing a knowledge for aviation engineering, and continued growth into future roles. This position supports professional engineers and has responsibilities for aviation engineering projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Utilize undergraduate and/or graduate skills for the design of aviation construction projects, drainage, utilities, rehabilitation projects, safety improvements, and other aviation projects.
  • Develop designs for projects that comply with local, state, and FAA regulations.
  • Attend client meetings as needed.
  • Assist Project Manager with appropriate oversight and management of design solutions.
  • Coordinate daily tasks with Project Manager and other team members as required for smooth performance of client-defined tasks and project deadlines.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of engineering production documents.
  • Development and updates to engineering construction cost estimates.
  • Perform CAD design and drafting to meet deliverable schedules.
  • Perform computer modeling and analysis using Civil 3D.
  • Utilize aviation design software.
  • Participate in internal meetings for project related tasks.
  • Participate in construction support activities including responses to requests for information (RFIs), submittal reviews, construction site visits, and design revisions/ management of change.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and vendor bid evaluations.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering reports, specifications, quality and cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
  • Check construction plans, design calculations, or cost estimations to ensure completeness, accuracy, or conformity to engineering standards or practices.
  • Create engineering documents including Typical Section Packages, Pavement Design Reports, and Variation/Exception Reports.
  • Confer with contractors, utility companies, or government agencies to discuss plans, specifications, or work schedules.
  • Contribute to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 0-2 years of experience in Aviation engineering
  • Engineer-in-Training certification preferred
  • Familiar with AutoCAD commands and design features
  • Strong aviation/transportation and site/civil technical background, including knowledge of FAA requirements preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply civil engineering fundamentals to academic or real-world projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to produce well written technical reports and regulatory compliance documents.
  • Ability to provide practical and results oriented technical solutions for projects.
  • Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

This is a full-time position with a base salary that ranges between $89,000 - $103,000 per year. In addition to salary, you are eligible for equity and a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, and PTO.
