Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Configuration Management (CM) intern supports the engineering and operations teams by ensuring that product data (item number, description, and attributes), and technical documentation are organized, tracked, and consistent throughout the product lifecycle.
Role Overview: Assist in maintaining and updating parts, technical documentation, drawings, and specifications within PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and ERP system.
This involves the following:
Change Management Support: Participate in the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process by reviewing change requests for accuracy and completeness before routing for approval.
Data Integrity: Perform regular audits of Bill of Materials (BOMs) to identify and resolve discrepancies between design data and manufacturing records
Process Automation: Support the development of scripts or tools (often using Python, PowerBI, PowerAutomate) to automate repetitive data entry tasks and reporting
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure configuration standards are met across the organization.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate student in Data Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Strong programming or analytical skills in Python, SQL, R, and/or Excel
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, seaborn) is a plus
  • Exposure to statistics, process analysis, forecasting, or optimization techniques is a plus
  • Ability to think analytically and approach ambiguous operational problems with structure and creativity
  • Strong attention to detail and intellectual rigor when working with data
  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn new tools, systems, and business processes
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to clearly present insights and recommendations to operations stakeholders
