We are seeking a highly motivated Field Systems Engineer to support the deployment, troubleshooting, integration, and performance of our advanced detection systems. This role serves as a key technical bridge between customers, service, operations, and engineering teams, ensuring our products perform reliably in both field and customer environments.

Position Summary

The Field Systems Engineer is responsible for system installation, technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, product validation, and customer support activities. The ideal candidate combines strong technical problem-solving abilities with hands-on experience diagnosing complex electromechanical systems and supporting customer deployments.

This role works closely with Engineering, Operations, Product Management, and Service teams to identify opportunities for product improvements, enhance system reliability, and provide exceptional customer support worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, test, and commission Viken products at customer sites.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of hardware, software, networking, and system-level issues.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and document findings, corrective actions, and recommendations.
  • Support product validation, verification testing, and field acceptance activities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to improve product performance, reliability, and serviceability.
  • Provide technical support to customers, distributors, and service partners through onsite and remote assistance.
  • Develop and deliver technical training for customers, representatives, and service personnel.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, service procedures, test reports, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support product upgrades, demonstrations, beta testing, and new product introductions.
  • Assist Manufacturing and Engineering teams with system builds, testing, and engineering change implementation when required.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to support installations, training, and customer support activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, field engineering, technical support, product support, or a related role.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ability to work independently in customer-facing environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical documentation tools.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 25-30%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with x-ray systems, imaging systems, analytical instruments, industrial automation, or other complex technical products.
  • Experience supporting hardware/software integrated systems.
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals, embedded systems, or firmware-based products.
  • Experience using Salesforce, Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Previous experience in field engineering, serviceability engineering, or product support engineering.
