Summary:

Central Prairie Co-op Agronomy Sales Representative provide leadership, support and knowledge of their agronomic products to customers. They are responsible for the sales of fertilizer, chemicals, seed, and technology that are offered by the co-op.

Essential Duties and responsibilities: includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Read and follow company employee handbook.
  • Provide positive customer service and co-employee relations.
  • Responsible for consulting with producers about their farming plans of fertilizer, seed & chemical and contracting consulting service.
  • Manage the seed department from purchases to sales and follow up for sales the next year.
  • Perform yield check for various yield contests.
  • Crop rotation planning and hybrid/variety selection recommendations.
  • Knowledge of soil fertility and fertilizer recommendations.
  • Educate clients on the benefits of specific types of agronomy products and provide personal consultation.
  • Solicit customers & increase acres and/or opportunities and maintaining current customer base.
  • Conduct educational/promotional presentations as needed.
  • Precision Ag services (including GIS/GPS information).
  • Detailed computerized field reports & permanent record keeping.
  • Keep office and vehicles in a clean and well working order.
  • Provide personal consultation with customers as needed.
  • Educational/promotional presentations as needed.
  • Assist in office duties in their absence.
  • Assist other departments/locations to accomplish company goals.
  • Responsible for setting all margins on chemicals and fertilizer for department manager.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Responsible for safety and reporting all accidents and close call accidents to management.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on all new technology and safety regulations.
  • Other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Graduate or graduating senior with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture with emphasis on agronomy, crop, soil, weed management, ag business, or other ag science course work; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combinations of education and experience.


Language skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interrupt common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication and conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished, written, oral, diagramed, or scheduled forms
