As a recognized leader in developing and operating supportive housing and community-based programs, The Bridge has 70 years of experience helping New Yorkers with mental illness, including those affected by homelessness, incarceration, and institutionalization.
Scope of Position: The Computer Specialist is responsible for deploying, maintaining, and supporting the agency's computer systems, including the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of personal computers, laptops, printers, and scanners. This role involves managing hardware and software inventory, responding to support requests through the MIS ticket system, and logging calls for resolution. The specialist configures desktop computers and smartphones, trains staff on equipment and software use, and ensures that anti-virus software and updates are current. Additionally, the role includes telecommunications support and may require travel to remote sites, involving the handling of equipment weighing over twenty pounds.
Essential Position Functions:
  • Provide Tier 1 technical support via the ticketing system, phone, email, and onsite visits.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, desk phones, and other IT equipment.
  • Assist with computer deployments, hardware replacements, and workstation setup.
  • Maintain Windows updates, antivirus protection, and system security.
  • Train and support staff in the effective use of agency technology and software applications.
  • Accurately document technical support requests, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions.
  • Travel to agency locations throughout Manhattan, the Bronx, and Brooklyn as needed to provide onsite technical support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • High School diploma or GED required; prefer college graduate or high school/GED diploma with 1 to 2 years of work experience; prefer certification in A+, MCP, or MCSE.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License OR Valid Driver's License from another State PLUS a NYS non-Driver's Photo ID.
  • Experience and working knowledge to install, configure, and troubleshoot:
  • Microsoft Windows through Windows 11 and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Desktop/laptop computer hardware components, printers, desk phones, smartphones, scanning, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and perform in a high-paced/high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work within a group to resolve an issue.
  • Ability to communicate with different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to travel between agency locations and lift equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
