Administrative Medical Assistant - Full Tme Evening Shift

The major responsibility of the HCC Medical Assistant is to perform clinical and administrative duties within the scope of practice consistent with the CMA’s education, training and experience as assigned to support the Nursing Department in their endeavor to deliver quality care.

Essential Duties:

  • Primarily responsible for monitoring nursing call systems in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Maintains HCC medical records in compliance with facility policy and procedure.
  • Responsible for assisting in the coordination of resident medical appointments and transports, and ensuring required paperwork is complete and that medical documentation is received following the appointments.
  • Provides support in preparing clinical records for physician rounds.
  • Maintains an up-to-date laboratory and diagnostic testing record and facilitates obtaining these test results promptly.
  • Assists with resident related needs within scope of qualifications and training as directed by the Director of Nursing.
  • Complete control testing of all individualized glucometers and sanitizes the equipment.
  • Provides clerical support to Team Leader/Lead nurse, Unit Manager, MDS coordinator and other members of the interdisciplinary team and Director of Nursing as directed.
  • Keeps the nurse’s station stocked with secretarial supplies.
  • Prepares charts and computer records for incoming admissions, completes the ADL tasks on computer and participates in audits as assigned.
  • Post daily staffing sheet and census and updates throughout the shift.
  • Report employee call outs to the scheduling coordinator and the Director of Quality Assurance.

Qualifications:

  • Administrative Assistants with medical experience
  • CNA or Medical Assistant with awareness and understanding of the job description
  • Knowledgeable of medical terminology and medical record management.
  • Is familiar with a variety of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Experience with clinical and diagnostic procedures within scope of practice.
  • Has ability to accurately complete health insurance forms.
  • Is Computer literate or has ability to learn and use various computer applications.
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively with residents, their families, facility staff and
  • the public.
  • Has ability to be flexible with work schedules and assignments.
