Civil CAD Technician
Build the Data Behind Every Successful Project
At MEB, every successful project starts with accurate information. As a Civil CAD Technician, you'll transform engineering designs into field ready layout points, develop as built documentation, and process laser scan and drone data that helps our field teams build with confidence.
You'll support projects across MEB's diverse portfolio, including water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, industrial and manufacturing facilities, commercial and architectural construction, fueling systems, and other complex infrastructure projects. Working alongside Survey crews, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and our BIM/VDC team, you'll help ensure projects are built accurately, efficiently, and safely.
Why This Role
  • Support the construction of complex heavy civil infrastructure that serves communities across the Mid Atlantic.
  • Work with advanced technology including Civil 3D, laser scanning, drone data, and BIM workflows.
  • Partner with experienced survey, construction, and VDC professionals.
  • See your work directly impact field operations and project success.
  • Continue building your technical expertise while working on challenging projects.
What You'll Do
Survey & Field Layout
  • Convert engineering drawings into field ready layout point files.
  • Create survey calculations from alignments, profiles, and utility designs.
  • Verify design information before releasing layout data to the field.
  • Coordinate priorities with Survey crews and project teams to keep construction moving.
Civil 3D & CAD Production
  • Develop and maintain alignments, profiles, surfaces, and utility models in Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
  • Produce construction drawings, plots, and project deliverables.
  • Interpret civil and utility drawings for underground infrastructure.
  • Prepare asset tables and owner deliverables.
As Built Documentation
  • Develop accurate as built drawings using field survey data.
  • Create profile drawings and project closeout documentation.
  • Assemble deliverables in CAD, Excel, and PDF formats.
Laser Scanning & BIM/VDC
  • Process laser scan and drone data into usable point clouds and surfaces.
  • Support BIM/VDC workflows using scan data for modeling and quantity calculations.
  • Coordinate Civil 3D deliverables with Revit and Navisworks workflows.
  • Assist with digital construction initiatives across multiple projects.
Quality & Collaboration
  • Review survey data and deliverables for accuracy before release.
  • Maintain organized project files and version control.
  • Identify design discrepancies before they impact construction.
  • Collaborate with Survey, Operations, and BIM/VDC teams to deliver high quality results.
What You'll Bring
Required
  • Three or more years of professional Civil CAD or survey drafting experience.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
  • Experience creating field layout calculations and as built drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction and utility plans.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting heavy civil or utility construction projects.
  • Experience processing laser scan or drone data.
  • Experience using Autodesk ReCap or Trimble RealWorks.
  • Familiarity with Revit and Navisworks.
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, pump stations, or industrial construction.
Work Environment
This position is primarily office based with occasional travel to active construction sites. You'll spend most of your time working in Civil 3D and AutoCAD while supporting field survey crews and project teams. Site visits require walking uneven terrain, wearing required PPE, and occasionally lifting equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
Why MEB
At MEB, you'll do more than produce drawings and calculations. You'll help build the critical infrastructure and facilities that communities, businesses, and industries rely on every day.
As a self performing contractor, we take on complex projects across water and wastewater treatment, industrial and manufacturing facilities, commercial and architectural construction, fueling systems, pipelines, environmental resiliency, and corporate and government markets. You'll work alongside experienced professionals who value collaboration, accuracy, and continuous improvement, with opportunities to expand your technical skills and grow your career as our technology and capabilities continue to evolve.
