Job description

A land surveying and geomatics team is seeking a CAD Technician to support drafting and construction staking efforts. This role is ideal for an early-career professional or recent graduate with foundational CAD skills who is looking to build experience in surveying and site development projects. The technician will work closely with experienced team members to assist in preparing survey drawings, staking layouts, and field support documents.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing construction staking layouts and basic calculations under the guidance of senior staff
 - Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Carlson Survey to produce survey drawings, including topographic maps and as-built plans
 - Interpret site plans, grading plans, and utility drawings with support from project managers or senior technicians
 - Process and organize field data collected from GPS and total stations
 - Support the preparation of field packages, including point maps and staking sheets
 - Assist with maintaining organized project files, survey data, and documentation
 - Collaborate with survey crews and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely deliverables
 - Learn and apply industry standards and best practices related to surveying and construction layout
CAD Technician Job Requirements:
-  1-3 years of CAD or drafting experience (surveying, civil, or related field preferred)
 - Basic proficiency in AutoCAD; exposure to Civil 3D or Carlson is a plus
 - Associate's degree or coursework in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or CAD Drafting preferred
 - Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn technical concepts related to land surveying
 - Ability to read and interpret construction or site plans
