Job description

Statement of Purpose

The Occupational Heath Department Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to the Occupational Health Department, including:

·        administratively supporting the department physician with activities related to Occupation Medicine and North Country Hospital activities

·        communicating with and advising community employers and employees regarding workers compensation claims, testing procedures and employment physicals.

·        coordinating with insurance companies regarding claims

·        obtaining information from employee/patients, employers, insurance companies, and others,

·        develop and maintain the department budget

·        maintaining patient records,

·        maintaining schedules,

·        billing for services,

·        receiving payments,

·         handling communications, including mail and telephone.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will preferably have:

·        A minimum of one year coding and charge entry;

·        Experience as a C.N.A. or Medical Assistant;

·        Successful completion of a two-year medical secretarial position or a certificate in medical transcription preferred.

·        Strong organizational, interpersonal, communicational, and filing skills;

·        Competency in computer use with knowledge of WORD, PowerPoint and Excel

·        Ability to transcribe and format letters and consultations in word for prompt mailing.
