Job description

Your role
The Systems Assembly Foreman provides technical direction and assists in supervising daily activities with the Systems Assembly Supervisor. Responsibilities include assembling standard and custom vacuum systems based on documentation and schematics. Tasks involve layout, assembly, wiring, testing, and preparation for shipment. You will report to the Production Planning Manager.
Your role includes:
  • Assisting the Systems Assembly Supervisor in managing Assembly Tech's, prioritizing tasks, and optimizing resources.
  • Managing shop activities when the Systems Assembly Supervisor is absent.
  • Supervising off-site assembly technicians.
  • Assembling systems off-site while following safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Providing technical support and training for new assembly techs.
  • Assembling vacuum systems per provided specifications and drawings.
  • Performing bolting, drilling, wiring, and cleaning tasks.
  • Requires mechanical and electrical assembly skills with proper tools.
  • Testing components to meet customer specifications.
  • Ensuring assembly integrity and zero defect quality.
  • Completing assignments timely while meeting Leybold standards.
  • Using electrical test equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Attending Hazard Communications training and supporting company safety programs.
  • Driving 6S culture in the shop area.
  • Assembling diverse systems for various industries, from rough vacuum to complex ultra high vacuum systems.

  • A two-year technical degree or high school diploma is desired.
  • Seven years in industrial mechanical/electro-mechanical assembly or repair and one year as Systems Assembly III required.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools needed.
  • Must read assembly drawings, understand electrical wiring, and use measuring devices like micrometers.
  • Teamwork and ability to lift up to 40 pounds required.
  • Experience in 6S and Lean Manufacturing preferred. Computer skills and willingness to travel up to 10% are a plus
  • Passion to lead a team to produce in a results driven enviornment
