Position Summary
The Grades 6 12 STEAM Teacher provides engaging, hands-on learning experiences that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics through inquiry-based and project-based instruction. The teacher fosters creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving while preparing students with the skills necessary for success in college, careers, and an increasingly technological world. This position collaborates with classroom teachers to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities that connect STEAM concepts across the curriculum.
Essential Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
  • Design and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned STEAM instruction for students in grades 6 12.
  • Develop authentic, project-based learning experiences that integrate multiple STEAM disciplines.
  • Foster student creativity, innovation, computational thinking, and engineering design.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of learners.
  • Utilize technology and digital tools to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Promote a classroom culture that encourages curiosity, perseverance, collaboration, and responsible risk-taking.

Curriculum Development
  • Develop and continuously refine STEAM curriculum aligned with district, state, and national standards.

  • Collaborate with grade-level and content-area teachers to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Support implementation of cross-curricular initiatives that connect STEAM with literacy, social studies, visual arts, and career pathways.

Student Learning
  • Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessments.
  • Analyze assessment data to guide instructional decisions and provide targeted interventions.
  • Provide timely, meaningful feedback to students and families regarding progress.
  • Encourage student participation in STEAM-related competitions, clubs, exhibitions, and community partnerships.

Technology Integration
  • Model effective use of instructional technology.
  • Teach responsible digital citizenship and ethical use of technology.
  • Maintain and manage STEAM equipment, makerspace resources, robotics kits, and technology tools.
  • Stay current with emerging educational technologies and instructional best practices.

Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, instructional coaches, counselors, and special education staff to support student success.
  • Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, and district professional development.

Professional Responsibilities

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • Valid New Hampshire teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of STEAM instructional practices.
  • Experience integrating technology into classroom instruction.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Preferred
  • Certification in Science, Mathematics, Technology Education, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience with project-based learning (PBL).
  • Experience with coding, robotics, engineering design, makerspaces, CAD, 3D printing, or digital fabrication.
  • Experience teaching middle and/or high school students.
  • Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and differentiated instruction.
