Primary Objective Direct quality department and provide a structured system that ensures delivered part quality meets or exceeds customer expectations; ensure compliance to and maintain registration to ISO9000:2015 Quality standard; promote awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization. Work closely with the site HR Manager and Pexco's Director of Quality, Regulatory and EHS to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and improve Quality Assurance/QMS manual; perform responsibilities as the plant Management Representative for the ISO9000:2015 quality system; organize and document management review meetings; manage and direct internal audits of quality system and report on Quality System performance to top management
- Promote, develop and train behavioral EHS initiatives to drive an autonomous EH&S culture
- Audit against Pexco/Performance Elastomers Safety Standards and ensure compliance
- Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine their causes and to determine whether the incidents could have been or can be prevented
- Direct quality control objectives and ensure that products produced meet required standards
- Oversee and ensure testing, incoming inspection, in-process inspection and final inspection of product
- Direct in-plant control of non-conforming product including quarantine of product not meeting quality requirements
- Oversee internal and external corrective action processes and ensure that corrective actions are completed in a timely manner
- Respond to customer complaints and resolve issues in a prompt and professional manner
- Coordinate with departmental managers to ensure appropriate, required and accurate collection, retention, storage and control of quality system documents and records
- Active responsibility in APQP process to review and provide input to new part feasibility as it pertains to quality and manufacturability; may participate in quoting process.
- Ensure that first article inspection, PPAP and other pre-production qualifications are submitted per customer requirements
- Develop and champion plant SPC program, Material Review Board and Continuous Improvement projects.
- Has the independent authority, responsibility and access to top management to resolve quality management issues
- Performs other duties as assigned and directed
Responsibility for Work of Others - Direct supervisory responsibility over Quality supervisor and quality technicians
- Direct temporary employees and other department employees assigned to quality related assignments.
- Work closely with other department managers, supervisors and employees to ensure customer and quality policy manual requirements are being adhered to
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree or Advanced degree in a technical discipline or relevant experience
- 10 years plus quality management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred and preferably in plastics and rubber converting (injection, transfer, compression molding and extrusion)
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong management and supervisory skills with a focus on teamwork
- Training and experience in ISO9000:2015 and/or IATF16949/AS9100 quality systems
- Training and experience in SPC, formal problem-solving techniques (8D, 5 why etc.) and lean manufacturing.
