Job description

Do you have a Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work? Are you interested in counseling children and adolescents?
Therapists in our Children's Outpatient Counseling Program provide therapy and support to clients under 18 to help them reach their treatment goals and objectives. Interventions include collaboration with family members, guardians, and others as appropriate for treatment. Therapists use many interactive therapeutic modalities, including sand tray therapy, play therapy, and art therapy.
This position is primarily responsible for providing at least 5 daily mental health or substance use outpatient therapy sessions to children, adolescents, and families for residents of Clifton Forge, Covington, and Alleghany County.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Master's degree in a human services field that fulfills the criteria for eligibility to pursue professional licensure as a professional counselor or clinical social worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia. LPC or LCSW preferred.
Licensure/Certifications: Required to pursue licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia.
  • Certification in CPR, basic First Aid (required but can be obtained upon hire)
  • Valid driver's license and meet requirements of motor vehicle check, drug/alcohol testing, and child abuse/neglect with the Virginia Dept. of Social Services (required)

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide daily outpatient therapy and/or substance abuse sessions for children, adolescents, and families.
  • Develop treatment plans for the children, adolescents, and families who are receiving outpatient therapy and/or substance abuse to track progress in presenting problems and or behaviors
  • Complete assessments on clients and families referred to the agency for mental health and/or substance use disorder services through the Same Day ACCESS program.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings with psychiatrist and other children services team members.
  • Maintain all electronic records for client caseload including treatment plans, quarterly evaluations, and outside reports and correspondence when necessary.
