Sawhorse Productions is seeking a talented Roblox Thumbnail Artist to craft eye-catching visuals that define the look and feel of our Roblox experiences. In this role, you'll collaborate with our Art, Creative, and Marketing teams to develop high-impact thumbnails, icons, and promotional assets that capture attention, drive engagement, and elevate the worlds we build. Blending 2D and 3D artistry with strong composition and a marketing mindset, you'll help shape the visual identity of our games.

Requirements

  • Thumbnail and Icon Creation: Design high-impact thumbnails, icons, and key art that increase CTR and drive player acquisition across all Roblox experiences.
  • 2D and 3D Asset Creation: Use a mix of Roblox Studio, Blender, Maya, and 2D tools to pose characters, compose scenes, light models, and paint over renders for polished final thumbnails.
  • Creative Direction and Collaboration: Work closely with Art Directors, Creative Directors, Game Designers, and Marketing teams to ensure all visuals match the tone, style, and goals of each project.
  • Acquisition Strategy and Optimization: Implement creative strategies to drive CTR, conversions, QPTR, and overall acquisition performance.
  • A/B Testing and Analytics: Develop multiple thumbnail variations, run A/B tests, evaluate performance data, and iterate based on player behavior insights.
  • Trend and Platform Awareness: Stay current on Roblox creative trends, platform behavior, top-performing genres, and competitor thumbnails to ensure our visuals remain best in class.
  • Expert Creative Insight: Bring expert-level knowledge in thumbnail performance, creative trends, and platform behavior. Serve as the go-to resource across all projects for insights, best practices, and high-performing asset strategies. Partner with creative and marketing teams to guide decisions that maximize engagement and acquisition.
  • World and Brand Cohesion: Ensure thumbnails and icons align with each game's brand identity, worldbuilding, visual language, and narrative tone.
Qualifications

A strong candidate for this position should have the following qualities:

  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience in digital art, 2D and 3D design, or thumbnail creation for gaming, entertainment, or marketing.
  • Portfolio: Strong portfolio demonstrating eye-catching thumbnails, composition, lighting, and storytelling through static imagery. Roblox examples are a strong plus.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency with Blender or Maya for rendering, plus Photoshop or similar tools for compositing, polishing, and final output.
  • Roblox Knowledge: Familiarity with Roblox Studio, UGC aesthetics, and platform visual trends. Understanding of how thumbnails impact click-through and player engagement.
  • Artistic Fundamentals: Strong grasp of composition, lighting, posing, visual hierarchy, and color theory.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work closely with art, creative, and marketing teams, communicate clearly, and manage feedback cycles.
  • Time Management: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment with tight deadlines.
