Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a Composite Technician to support aerospace and defense manufacturing operations in Poway, CA. This contract opportunity is ideal for a hands-on production professional with experience in composite assembly, carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar, honeycomb materials, bonding, trimming, drilling, sanding, and blueprint reading.
In this role, you will fabricate, assemble, and repair advanced composite structures while working from engineering drawings, work instructions, and manufacturing specifications. You will join a quality-focused production environment where teamwork, precision, safety, and continuous improvement are valued. This is a strong opportunity for candidates looking to build their aerospace manufacturing experience with supportive leadership, structured processes, and a collaborative shop-floor team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, fit, align, and repair composite parts and subassemblies according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and production specifications.
- Perform composite bonding, adhesive application, sealing, surface preparation, trimming, routing, drilling, sanding, and finishing operations.
- Install rivets, bolts, screws, bushings, inserts, brackets, and related hardware using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, jigs, and templates.
- Cut and prepare carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar, honeycomb, adhesives, and other composite materials using templates and work instructions.
- Conduct in-process inspections, alignment checks, measurements, and quality verification before final inspection.
- Maintain accurate production documentation while following OSHA, company safety procedures, and clean work area standards.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $21.00 to $22.00 per hour.
- Job Type: Contract/Temporary.

- Perform mechanical assembly, fastener installation, bonding surface preparation, and quality checks.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant manufacturing, composite assembly, or technical production experience preferred.
- Experience working with composite materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar, honeycomb, and structural adhesives.
- Ability to perform composite layup, bonding, surface preparation, routing, trimming, drilling, sanding, and composite repair tasks.
- Familiarity with mechanical assembly, riveting, fastener installation, inserts, bushings, sealants, and aerospace production processes.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and work instructions.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and production assembly equipment.
- Ability to perform basic math, measurements, and quality inspection checks.
- Strong attention to detail, quality workmanship, safety awareness, and ability to follow detailed procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work overtime when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
- Experience with composite layup, composite structures, and composite repair.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety practices.
- Respirator certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Experience working with precision tolerances, structural components, quality inspections, and production assembly documentation.
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.
