Job description

The Product Safety Compliance Engineer will lead product safety compliance activities related to new product development and product sustaining tasks for Vertiv’s Liquid Cooling business. You will act as regulatory expert at the global business unit level to guide product engineers and R&D engineers ensuring product designs comply to local safety standards and that product certifications are kept up to date.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees global and local product certifications through the life cycle from cradle to grave.
  • Guides the tasks of shared-resource R&D compliance engineers.
  • Assists R&D and product engineers by translating regulatory clauses into real-world answers.
  • Signoff on product release readiness.
  • Develops, reviews and standardizes relevant test plans and test reports.
  • Creates budgetary and resource plans for certification related process.
  • Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative working relationships with internal and external groups.
  • Uses relevant information and experience and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Participates and follows standards and regulatory committees to make certain that the Liquid Cooling Business objectives are represented.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or directly related degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Fluent with UL, CSA, cUL, NEC, IEC, NFPA, CE, CCC, Global CB Scheme with the ability to correctly interpret and communicate these and other global regulations.
  • Ability to oversee global product compliance and help navigate local certifications with each region.
  • Basic working knowledge in mechanical and thermal systems preferred
  • Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams.
  • Compliance Engineering experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test reports.
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a dynamic team.
