Job description

Complex Litigation Attorney
Career Consulting Partners has partnered with a boutique litigation firm based in the South Bay/Torrance, focused on high-stakes business, commercial, and real estate disputes. Their practice often involves complex matters such as partner and shareholder disputes, LLC member conflicts, and other sophisticated commercial litigation issues.
We are seeking a Litigation Associate with 2 to 3 years of experience to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated attorney who wants to sharpen their litigation skills, take on substantive assignments, and play an integral role in complex case work.
What sets them apart is the diversity and depth of their cases - they do not handle insurance defense. Associates at their firm gain early and meaningful experience with courtroom appearances, strategic decision-making, and direct client interaction. They pride themselves on a collaborative, growth-oriented environment where attorneys are mentored closely and entrusted with real responsibility from day one.
Duties:
  • Handle all aspects of complex, high-exposure litigation, including case evaluation, strategy, discovery, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Draft and respond to discovery, pleadings, and motions
  • Conduct depositions and assist in witness preparation
  • Perform legal research and draft analyses on nuanced legal issues
  • Manage discovery, including document review and analysis
  • Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and experts.
  • Collaborate with partners and colleagues in a team-driven environment
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active member of the California State Bar in good standing
  • 2-3 years of litigation experience, preferably business, commercial, or real estate litigation experience
  • Familiarity with billing software and concurrent time entry
  • Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
  • Courtroom experience, including arguing motions, depositions, or trial prep, is a plus
  • Must be self-motivated and collaborative, with the ability to work independently when needed
  • Maintain a 1600-hour annual billable requirement
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Medical & Profit Sharing Plan
  • Paid Time Off & Paid Holidays
  • Compensation: $130,000 - $165,000
  • Plus performance commission/bonuses
Location:
  • Torrance, California (90503)
  • Hybrid after the acclimation period
