The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services, known as the most "spirited" agency in Utah, is looking for an Assistant Manager to become part of our team in Draper, Utah.

Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager to oversee all aspects of a State Liquor Store's operations. Daily responsibilities include:
  • Team Leadership & Development: Assist in scheduling staff, delegating work assignments, and monitoring team performance. Provide hands-on training, technical assistance, and constructive feedback to help employees succeed and grow.
  • Financial & Administrative Management: Manage store accounts receivable, process and account for payments, and ensure the accuracy of daily receipts and deposits. Maintain employee leave and payroll records precisely.
  • Inventory Control & Merchandising: Oversee regular and spot-check inventories of merchandise and equipment. Order, receive, inspect, and store stock to ensure an optimal supply of materials while verifying that cash intake matches sales activity.
  • Customer Service & Order Fulfillment: Drive a culture of superior customer service by helping guests locate and select items. Supervise and process wholesale liquor orders for licensees (clubs, restaurants, and hotels).
  • Compliance & Conflict Resolution: Maintain situational awareness to proactively resolve potential confrontational issues (such as dealing with intoxicated individuals or shoplifters). Ensure all staff are thoroughly trained to enforce state laws, strictly prohibiting sales to minors.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Experience: Proven management experience in a fast-paced retail environment, with a track record of bringing out the best in employees.
  • Age: 21 years of age or older.
  • Physical: Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis.
  • Schedule: Able to work a flexible schedule, including various shifts Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
  • Background: Able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • Work Ethic: Strong personal accountability, work ethic, and a commitment to ensuring customers receive excellent service.

  • Preference may be given to current employees of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services (DABS).

Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and seeing. Requires frequent talking, hearing, and hand/wrist/arm use. Tools: POS, box cutter, hand truck. DABS stores are closed on Sundays and all state and federal holidays.
