Job Summary and Qualifications

You Will:   


  • Be responsible for the management and handling of inbound and outbound samples to include tracking, accessioning/registration, sample preparation and processing, for in house testing or submission to third parties.  


  • Ensure positive patient identification in the handling, plating and labeling of samples and slides.  


  • Perform test order entry procedures with accuracy and in a timely manner.  


  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of specimen collection, culture set-up, storage, transport and testing requirements as well as specimen rejection criteria.  


  • Prepare, label, and handle laboratory specimens according to established policies and procedures based on specimen type and testing ordered.  


  • Prepare and receive (batches) samples for courier pick-up and include any special instructions.  


  • Perform clerical duties such as answering and making telephone, communication of test results, typing and data entry, sample retrieval, filing paperwork and slides, faxing documents and assisting with supply inventory.  


You Should Have:  


  • High School Diploma required  


  • Associate’s Degree preferred 


  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting preferred  


  • Knowledge of laboratory methods as well as specimen collection, culture set up, storage, transport and testing requirements based on test requested or ordered.  


  • Excellent communication skills and effective team work  


  • Ability to organize work according to priority
