The Lab Assistant / Specimen Accessioner will primarily be responsible for accessioning and processing a high volume of laboratory specimens in the Research Department. This role requires a strong focus on organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure compliance with company policy, HIPAA regulations.
Essential Functions
Accurately accession and process a high volume of specimens.
Ensure that all tasks are performed with strict attention to detail and organization.
Maintain the integrity of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Ensure that only authorized individuals have access to patient's medical information and that all handling of information is in compliance with company policy and HIPAA

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional medical clinic and office environment. This role routinely works around standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing or movement may be required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Education:
High school diploma, associate degree, or a non-science college degree is acceptable.
A Bachelor of Science in biology will be plus.
Experience:
No prior lab experience is required.
Six months of previous lab experience is preferred but not required.
