Contracts Manager / Negotiator

Company: Russell Tobin (supporting a leading global technology company)
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid)
Job Type: 9-Month W2 Contract 40 hours/week
Pay Rate: $47-52 /hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

Russell Tobin is partnering with a leading global technology organization to hire a Contracts Manager / Negotiator for a 5-month W2 contract opportunity in Austin, TX. This is a strategic contracts role supporting a high-performing legal and commercial organization responsible for negotiating and managing complex sales agreements across multiple business channels and customer segments.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in commercial contract negotiation, contract management, legal operations, and cross-functional collaboration. This position is well-suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can independently manage multiple negotiations, and is skilled at balancing legal risk with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex commercial sales agreements across multiple business channels and customer segments.

  • Manage a portfolio of high-impact negotiations involving enterprise, government, education, healthcare, technology, and commercial customers.

  • Review and negotiate contractual terms and conditions while ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with legal counsel, sales, finance, operations, compliance, and other cross-functional stakeholders throughout the contract lifecycle.

  • Develop, maintain, and refine standard contract templates, clause libraries, and governance processes to ensure consistency across agreements.

  • Utilize contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems and automation tools to improve workflow efficiency and contract management processes.

  • Analyze contractual risk, identify potential legal and commercial issues, and provide strategic recommendations for resolution.

  • Manage multiple concurrent negotiations and ensure timely completion of deliverables while maintaining exceptional quality and attention to detail.

  • Support contract compliance initiatives, approval workflows, and documentation governance.

  • Track project milestones, timelines, and negotiation status while communicating updates to stakeholders and leadership.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal business partners and external customers throughout the negotiation process.

Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial sales agreements.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial contracting principles, legal terminology, and contract risk management.

  • Experience negotiating enterprise commercial agreements, technology agreements, licensing agreements, product sales agreements, government or education contracts, or other complex commercial transactions.

  • Experience managing contracts across global or multi-regional business environments.

  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems and contract automation tools.

  • Strong contract analysis, compliance, and documentation management experience.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills with the ability to explain complex contractual concepts to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple negotiations simultaneously and drive projects to completion under tight deadlines.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong project management capabilities, including timeline management, milestone tracking, and executive reporting.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with template management, clause governance, and standardized contract development.

  • Background supporting technology, software, telecommunications, healthcare, government, education, or other enterprise commercial organizations.

  • MBA, Paralegal certification, or related advanced education is a plus.
