Job description

The Project Engineer at Koops plans, coordinates, and executes engineering activities to deliver successful custom automation projects. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to tune, debug, and launch automated systems while resolving engineering design and testing challenges throughout the project lifecycle. This position does not have direct reports but plays a key leadership role within the project team.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and coordinate engineering activities to meet project requirements

  • Tune, debug, and launch custom factory automation systems

  • Resolve engineering design and system integration challenges

  • Work with mechanical systems, robots, sensors, motion control, pneumatics, hydraulics, and vision systems

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions

  • Communicate with customers to understand needs and coordinate solutions

  • Support system startup and project launches across North America (10–15% travel)

  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction
