Families & Communities Rising, Inc. (FCR) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our Head Start/NC Pre-K team. This position requires a current North Carolina Birth-Kindergarten (BK) license. At FCR, we believe every child deserves a strong start. Our Preschool Teachers create nurturing, engaging classrooms where children develop the academic, social, emotional, and problem-solving skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

What You'll Do
  • Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Promote children's literacy, language, math, physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Create and maintain a safe, healthy, welcoming, and organized classroom.
  • Collaborate with the assistant teacher and other classroom staff.
  • Develop lesson plans and prepare classroom learning centers and materials.
  • Use Creative Curriculum GOLD to assess and document children's developmental progress.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, meal, assessment, and classroom records.
  • Build positive relationships with children and their families.
  • Conduct required home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding their child's progress.
  • Maintain active supervision of children in the classroom, on the playground, and during program activities.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, training, and program events.
  • Follow Head Start Performance Standards, North Carolina childcare requirements, and FCR policies and procedures.

Requirements
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Current North Carolina Birth-Kindergarten (BK) license required.
  • At least one year of experience teaching preschool-aged children in a high-quality early childhood program.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and pre-employment requirements.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of an active early childhood classroom, including lifting up to approximately 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two years of experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed early childhood program.
  • Previous Head Start or North Carolina Pre-K experience.
