This position is part of the Life & Individual Retirement line of business. It reports directly to the Assistant Manager - Market Intelligence.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Competitive Intelligence Analyst to support the Annuities and Life Insurance businesses. This role is responsible for monitoring competitor activity, analyzing product and pricing trends, researching market developments, and delivering actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across Product, Pricing, Distribution, Marketing, and Executive Leadership.

The ideal candidate combines strong industry knowledge of annuity and life insurance products with market research, data analysis, and communication skills. They must be able to quickly understand competitor product designs, interpret regulatory filings, identify meaningful business implications, and translate complex information into actionable insights for internal stakeholders.

This role serves as a key partner to Sales Distribution, Product Management, Pricing, and Leadership teams by helping them understand competitive positioning and enhance market competitiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor competitor activity across the life insurance and annuity markets.

  • Collaborate with Product, Pricing, Sales, Marketing, Strategy, and Leadership teams and serve as a trusted partner

  • Conduct competitive research & analysis on Life & Annuity carriers, products, distribution models, and market strategies.

  • Track industry trends, sales results, market share changes, earnings releases, and strategic developments.

  • Create and maintain Competitive intelligence materials such as Competitor profiles, Sales Battlecards, Competitive Flyers, Product Comparison Guides, executive briefings

  • Review product filings, prospectuses, rate sheets, product guides, and regulatory submissions and translate information into actionable business insights.

  • Partner with Sales, Distribution, and Wholesaling teams to support competitive sales efforts.

  • Create comparison tools that help differentiate company solutions.

  • Deliver recurring competitive intelligence reports and market updates.

  • Present insights and recommendations to business leaders and stakeholders for better decision making. Deliver insights in clear, concise, and actionable formats.

  • Leverage AI and approved technologies to improve research and insight generation.

  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting and monitoring processes.

  • Maintain competitive intelligence repositories and knowledge resources.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Insurance, or a related field. FLMI or other insurance industry designations preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience within Life & Annuity industry in the field of Competitive Intelligence, Market Research, Product management, Product Development, Pricing, Sales Enablement.

  • Strong understanding of annuity and life insurance products and competitive marketplace dynamics.

  • Advanced research and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel (advanced), PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.

  • Experience building Power BI dashboard is nice to have.

  • Experience working with competitive intelligence databases and research tools such as LifeTrends, Competiscan, Compu Life, Wink, Annuity Rate Watch, LIMRA, Beacon, and related industry resources.

  • Experience leveraging AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to improve research and productivity.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with ability to communicate effectively with executives and senior leaders.

  • Ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Strong storytelling and data visualization capabilities.
