Job Description

The Business Development Manager will play a key role in driving revenue growth and strengthening the firm’s market position across priority clients and sectors in the US. This role combines strategic planning, data-driven decision-making and hands-on execution to deliver measurable business outcomes. 

Working closely with partners, client team leads, and colleagues across Business Development, Marketing and Commercial functions, the Business Development Manager will develop and implement targeted initiatives aligned with firmwide priorities, with a strong focus on ROI, performance tracking and continuous optimization. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Business Development 

  • Partner with US-based partners, client team leads and regional leadership to develop and execute business development plans aligned with strategic priorities, with clear success metrics and ROI tracking  

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Commercial colleagues to ensure alignment between market positioning, campaigns and revenue objectives  

  • Identify and prioritize new client opportunities, markets and revenue streams using data, market intelligence and client insights  

Revenue Growth and ROI Measurement 

  • Establish KPIs for BD and marketing initiatives, tracking performance against revenue, pipeline growth and client engagement metrics  

  • Work with Commercial and Finance colleagues to evaluate return on investment and inform budget allocation and prioritization  

  • Provide regular, insight-led reporting to stakeholders, clearly linking activity to commercial outcomes  

Client Development and Cross-Selling 

  • Facilitate cross-selling initiatives by working with partners, client teams and BD colleagues to identify opportunities across regions and services  

  • Support and help coordinate client teams for key accounts, ensuring integrated execution across BD, Marketing and Commercial functions  

  • Leverage CRM data and client insights to strengthen relationships and identify expansion opportunities  

Pursuits, Pitches and Competitive Intelligence 

  • Collaborate closely with BD and RFP teams to develop winning pursuit strategies, including positioning, messaging and team selection  

  • Work with Marketing colleagues to ensure consistent, differentiated messaging and high-quality supporting materials  

  • Develop and share competitive intelligence and market insights to inform strategy across BD, Marketing and Commercial teams  

Data, Technology and AI Enablement 

  • Utilize CRM and data platforms to track leads, manage pipeline visibility and generate actionable insights  

  • Partner with BD, Marketing and Commercial colleagues to improve data quality, reporting and insight generation  

  • Champion the use of data analytics and emerging technologies, including AI tools, to enhance targeting, personalization and BD effectiveness  

Profile Raising and Market Engagement 

  • Work with Marketing and Communications teams to raise the profile of partners and the firm through thought leadership, campaigns and digital channels  

  • Collaborate with Events teams and BD colleagues to design and deliver strategic client programs, with clear objectives and post-event ROI evaluation  

  • Ensure content and messaging are aligned across BD, Marketing and Commercial priorities  

Collaboration and Capability Building 

  • Act as a connector across BD, Marketing and Commercial teams, ensuring a coordinated and consistent approach to client development  

  • Support capability-building initiatives across the US business, including BD training and best practice sharing  

  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement 

About You 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or a related field  

  • Significant experience in business development within a professional services environment, or within technology or product-led organizations with a strong B2B focus  

  • Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and link business development activity to measurable commercial outcomes  

  • Experience operating in complex, consultative sales environments, with multiple stakeholders and long sales cycles  

  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using data to inform strategy, track performance and drive decision-making  

  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce or InterAction, and comfort working with data, dashboards and reporting tools  

  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, including AI, and an interest in applying these tools to enhance business development effectiveness  

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders  

  • Highly organized, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment  

  • Collaborative and solutions-oriented, with strong relationship-building skills across functions including BD, Marketing and Commercial teams  

  • High level of professionalism, accountability and commercial awareness 

Compensation:

The salary range for this role reflects a variety of factors considered in compensation decisions, including but not limited to an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, work location, work arrangement, licensure and certifications, and applicable laws. Placement within the range will vary based on these factors, and compensation decisions are made to ensure internal equity and alignment with market data.

A reasonable and good-faith estimate of the current salary range for individuals able to work a hybrid schedule in the office locally is:

$106,000.00 - $147,000.00
