SCOPE:
The Sr. Regulatory Compliance Specialist leads compliance activities for MHIA and its regional affiliates. The role focuses on maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations, managing corporate policies, delivering employee training, leading investigations, and promoting compliance awareness.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor the regulatory enviornment and update compliance processes in response to new or amended regulations, particularly in export controls, anti-corruption, and competition law.
  • Provide expert guidance to leadership on complex compliance matters, including regulatory issues and high-risk operational decisions.
  • Liaise with department heads and compliance leaders at other MHI affiliates in the Americas to help ensure business operations align with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Organize and conduct compliance-related audits, including export control self-checks.
  • Serve as the primary owner of the company's policy governance framework, ensuring policies remain current, risk-aligned, and compliant with evolving requirements.
  • Develop and implement compliance training, including export control, anti-corruption, and competition law training, and monitor completion.
  • Lead compliance investigations involving allegations of illegal, unethical, or improper conduct by employees or company representatives, including fact-finding, evidence review, and final reporting, in coordination with HR and Legal as needed.
  • Develop and implement activities raising compliance awareness across MHIA and its affiliates, such as distributing messages from senior management and organizing meetings for compliance representatives.
  • This list of responsibilities is not all-inclusive, and the employee may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience: Minimum of nine (9) years of work experience in the compliance field within highly regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with regulatory bodies and responding to inquiries or inspections.
  • Understanding of relevant federal, state, and international regulations such as export control (including EAR and ITAR), anti-corruption (including FCPA), competition law, and other relevant frameworks.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific compliance standards and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities; adept at identifying risks and proposing practical solutions.
  • Proven ability to independently lead complex compliance investigations and deliver defensible, well-documented findings.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting, revising, and governing corporate policies with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make recommendations on high-risk compliance issues with limited guidance.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships through strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
    • Juris Doctor (JD) and/or attorney qualification.
    • Experience supporting internal audits, J-SOX audits and HR related investigations (Such as harassment).

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Travel: 10%
  • Standard Monday through Friday workweek; weekend or late-night work may be required approximately 10% of the time.
  • Lifting/Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit for extended periods and to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
