Clinical Nurse Educator, Procedural Services, Harborview Medical Center
Harborview Medical Center - PDNE (Professional Development and Nursing Excellence) dept. has an outstanding opportunity for Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), Procedural Services.
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) for Procedural Services will advance nursing excellence through clinical education, competency development, evidence-based practice, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
The CNE collaborates with nursing leadership, providers, ancillary staff, and interprofessional teams to assess educational and practice needs, develop and implement learning programs, support regulatory and accreditation readiness, and promote safe, high-quality patient care. The position integrates best practices, organizational standards, and continuous quality improvement into clinical practice, competency development, and professional development activities.
This position provides specialized clinical expertise and educational support to nurses and procedural team members caring for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The role supports competency development, implementation of evidence-based practices, adoption of new technologies and equipment, and achievement of nursing quality and patient safety goals across procedural service lines.
Required Qualifications
• Current Washington State (or applicable multistate) Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Minimum of five years of recent clinical nursing experience in procedural services, critical care, cardiovascular services, perioperative services, emergency services, or a related specialty.
• Minimum of two years of clinical leadership experience, such as educator, charge nurse, preceptor, quality improvement lead, assistant nurse manager, nurse manager, or similar role.
• Demonstrated ability to assess clinical practice and educational needs, identify gaps, and implement effective solutions and process improvements.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, facilitate, deliver, and evaluate educational programs for adult learners.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with interprofessional teams and build strong working relationships across clinical and operational settings.
• Strong communication, facilitation, organization, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing operational and clinical needs, including occasional evening, night, and weekend support.
Desired Qualifications
• Master's degree in nursing, Nursing Education, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) certification or previous experience practicing in a Clinical Nurse Specialist role.
• National specialty certification, such as RCIS, CGRN, CRNI, CCRN, PCCN, CVRN, CEN, CNOR, NPD-BC, or related certification.
• Previous experience in nursing professional development, staff education, clinical instruction, or competency management.
• Experience supporting cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, endoscopy, or other procedural service lines.
