This is a hybrid role requiring two days a week on site at one of our US core office locations

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Compensation, the Compensation Consultant will contribute to Sun Life US and global compensation initiatives through analysis, research, process administration, and operational execution. This role is an important part of the US Compensation team, helping keep core compensation processes running smoothly, ensuring data and materials are accurate, enabling timely, well-organized support for HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and other stakeholders, and participating in various compensation projects.

What you will do:

  • Research issues, prepare analysis, maintain data, and organize materials used by the Compensation team to support consultation with HR Business Partners and other stakeholders, with opportunities to participate in stakeholder discussions.
  • Play a key role in supporting the annual pay cycle by preparing and validating data, maintaining files, identifying issues or inconsistencies, and assisting with compensation tools, resources, and recommendation support as needed.
  • Administer sales compensation processes, including guarantee management, eligibility tracking, plan-related data maintenance, reporting, issue resolution, and coordination with cross-functional partners as needed.
  • Help keep compensation projects and recurring process steps moving by coordinating inputs, tracking deliverables, completing assigned analysis, and supporting timely follow-through.
  • Prepare analysis and maintain records for job evaluation work using Sun Life's career framework and job evaluation methodology, escalating complex or precedent-setting situations for review.
  • Gather information, validate data, organize documentation, and identify items that may require Compensation team review as part of audits and assessments.
  • Participate in salary surveys and support the maintenance, organization, and application of market data.
  • Coordinate Workday-related compensation changes and support related testing, documentation, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate with HR, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Payroll, and other partners as needed to support compensation processes, sales compensation programs, and reporting.
  • Use available data, technology, and analytical tools to summarize information, identify data patterns or inconsistencies, and prepare clear, organized materials that help inform compensation discussions and team review.
  • Use approved AI-enabled tools and other technology responsibly to improve efficiency, support analysis, draft or organize materials, and maintain process documentation, while reviewing outputs and following confidentiality and company guidance.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset by learning new tools, adjusting to changes in ways of working, and helping strengthen team practices while continuing to build compensation knowledge, business context, and stakeholder awareness over time.

What you will bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 3+ years of relevant compensation, HR, finance, analytics, or related business experience.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail, accuracy, data integrity, and the ability to organize compensation information into clear materials.
  • Ability to understand business context, ask thoughtful questions, and use data and compensation knowledge to prepare information that supports compensation recommendations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, including spreadsheet analysis, lookups, formulas, pivot tables, formatting, and data validation.
  • Working knowledge of broad-based compensation, sales compensation, market data, and related compliance considerations is preferred.
  • Experience with Workday and compensation analysis tools preferred; willingness and ability to learn new systems required.
  • Comfort using approved AI-enabled tools to support productivity, analysis, writing, and process improvement, with the ability to validate outputs, protect confidential information, and follow company guidance.
  • Ability to handle confidential compensation, employee, and business information with discretion, sound judgment, and adherence to company policies and data protection expectations.
  • Ability to organize and complete assigned tasks within established timelines, adjust priorities based on direction, and escalate questions or risks appropriately.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with HR, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Payroll, and other stakeholders, and the potential to build consultative relationships over time.
  • Completion of or progress toward CCP designation is a plus.
