Position Summary

The Director, Compensation - North America will lead the strategy, design, administration, and continuous improvement of compensation programs across the United States and Canada. This leader will partner with HR, Finance, Legal, Talent Acquisition, and business leadership to ensure programs are market competitive, compliant, operationally efficient, and aligned with onsemi's business objectives.

This role requires a hands-on compensation leader with deep expertise in market pricing, job architecture, salary administration, incentive design, pay transparency, and governance. The Director will help attract and retain talent across engineering, technical, manufacturing, professional, and leadership populations while supporting growth, performance, and fiscal discipline.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive compensation or total rewards experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Significant experience managing compensation programs across the United States and Canada.
  • Deep expertise in compensation design, salary structures, market pricing, incentive compensation, job architecture, pay transparency, and governance.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and business acumen, with the ability to influence senior leaders through data and insights.
  • Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, technical, and corporate employee populations within complex organizations.
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, industrial technology, or other competitive technical industries.
  • Experience supporting publicly traded companies, executive compensation, leadership compensation, equity programs, or long-term incentive plans.
  • Experience leading compensation planning processes in large, matrixed organizations.
  • CCP certification or master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, administration, and governance of North America compensation programs, including base pay, salary structures, annual merit planning, short-term incentives, sign-on and retention programs, job architecture, market pricing, and leadership compensation support.
  • Ensure compensation programs remain competitive across semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, engineering, technical, operations, and corporate talent markets.
  • Develop strategies that support attraction, retention, employee engagement, business performance, and fiscal discipline.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and business leaders on offers, promotions, internal movement, retention, organizational design, pay transparency, and internal equity.
  • Translate complex compensation concepts into practical recommendations that support business objectives and consistent decision-making.
  • Lead annual compensation planning and manage governance related to compensation administration, leveling, offers, promotions, and incentive plans.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local regulations, including pay transparency and compensation reporting requirements.
  • Support pay equity analysis, compensation governance initiatives, and executive compensation analysis as needed.
  • Use workforce analytics, compensation surveys, and market data to evaluate competitiveness, retention risk, compensation costs, program effectiveness, and workforce trends.
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting, workforce planning, and compensation cost forecasting.
  • Develop dashboards, reporting, and metrics that improve compensation decision quality and transparency.
  • Lead, coach, and develop members of the Compensation team while fostering strong partnerships across HR, Finance, Legal, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, and business leadership.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service.
