About the Role
The Compensation Manager is responsible for managing the compensation function for First PREMIER Bank and PREMIER Bankcard. This role is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing new and existing compensation programs, policies, and procedures to align with PREMIER's compensation philosophy. This position is also responsible for ensuring that company compensation programs are consistently administered and identify additional best practices in compliance with government regulations and company practice.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Implements and is responsible for the compensation strategy by researching best practices and trends and perform analysis on effectiveness, competitiveness, and perceived value that ensures base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives.
  • Provides consultation to department managers on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
  • Responsible for HCM (Workday) administration by partnering with internal and external HR functional groups to evaluate compensation HCM needs, development, configuration, implementation, support, and maintenance to meet changing demands and provide reporting data efficiently and timely.
  • Administers compensation functions including salary survey participation and conducts market pricing analysis.
  • Lead job evaluations, assignment of job code and pay grade, salary structure development, incentive plan design, and associated analysis.
  • Maintain high-quality and consistent data that will be used across the company for key business decisions
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations. Prepare regulatory reporting for EEO, Affirmative Action and other required regulations.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert with compensation initiatives, related projects and processes for the organization.
  • Evaluate external competitiveness and recommend salary range adjustments. Monitor labor market trends and emerging compensation practices.
  • Conduct tasks in a manner that complies with all consumer protection regulations and treats consumers fairly.
  • Interviews, hires, and trains new staff. Provides constructive and timely performance reviews. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal) with a high demonstrated standard of excellent customer service skills.

  • Job evaluation and job architecture experience
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities
  • Data visualization and reporting skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines with high accountability.
  • Strong PC skills; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Detail oriented, ability to produce accurate and timely results.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects with competing priorities/deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field is preferred.
  • 6 + years of Human Resources experience of progressive related experience is preferred. Prior managerial or supervisory experience is highly desired.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and certified compensation professional credentials preferred.
  • Prior experience with HRIS system experience; preferred experience with Workday.
