Compass Transportation is experiencing rapid growth and is currently seeking School Bus Drivers to join our team immediately.

Earn $25 to $30 Per Hour

Paid CDL Training Program!

If you do not currently have a CDL, we provide paid CDL training at no cost to you. Whether you are an experienced driver or looking to start a new career in student transportation, we will help you obtain the certifications needed to succeed.


As a School Bus Driver, you will play an important role in safely transporting students to and from school while providing a positive and professional experience for students, families, and school staff.

Key Responsibilities

As a School Bus Driver, you will:

  • Safely transport students to and from school following assigned routes and schedules

  • Operate a school bus in accordance with all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections

  • Ensure student safety during loading, unloading, and transportation

  • Maintain accurate route schedules and on-time performance

  • Keep the bus clean, organized, and presentable

  • Communicate professionally with students, parents, school personnel, and management

  • Address student behavior concerns in a calm and professional manner

  • Attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and company events

  • Accept charter assignments when available and requested


Qualifications
  • Valid Illinois driver's license held for at least 3 years

  • Clean driving record with no license suspensions

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

  • Ability to meet all school transportation eligibility requirements

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

  • Willingness to work assigned morning and afternoon routes

  • Availability to work a minimum of 25 hours per week, with opportunities for up to 40 hours per week

  • Willingness to accept charter trip assignments as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) Endorsements

  • Previous school bus, shuttle, transit, paratransit, charter, or commercial driving experience
