Job description

Essential Job Functions: Include but are not limited to the following:
(Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time, and responsibilities may vary depending on area of assignment and qualification level.)
• Follows established safety and housekeeping rules and reports, and/or, corrects unsafe conditions
• Reads and correctly interprets information contained in equipment and vendor manuals.
• Repairs, assembles and/or disassembles small gear boxes, pumps, transmissions and other machinery in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and recommendations.
• Welds mild steel. Performs flat and vertical welds.
• Uses cutting torch to accomplish freehand cutting of metals and/or heating of parts.
• Provides valve/bearing maintenance inclusive of packing, lubricating and replacement/repair.
• Performs basic pipe fitting as applied to threaded and welded joints.
• Performs basic layout, equipment rigging, some minor machinist duties & most commonly used power tools.
• Perform routine inspections
• Create work orders for maintenance work required in the plant
• Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, additional technical training may be required at various levels
• Previous experience or education demonstrating the ability to maintain equipment for proper operation, experience in large processing or mining operations preferred
• Prior work experience maintaining industrial equipment, conveyors & packaging systems, pumps, piping, boilers, heat exchangers, hydraulic systems, evaporators, crystallizers, thickeners, and other similar equipment preferred
• Experience with JD Edwards, SAP, IFS, or similar is preferred

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
