The company's salt products help keep roadways safe during winter weather and are used in numerous other consumer, industrial, chemical and agricultural applications. Its plant nutrition products help improve the quality and yield of crops while supporting sustainable agriculture. Summary: The basic function of this role is to operate industrial equipment used to produce drill, blast, cut and haul -salt safely in an underground environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)
  • Follow Company and site policies and procedures
  • Performs work area and equipment inspections
  • Performs scaling activities
  • Operates heavy equipment: service vehicles, 60 ton dump trucks, powder rigs, face drill, floor drill and personnel carriers
  • Handles blasting materials (Must be able to obtain a blasting license through State Police)
  • Performs general housekeeping
  • Work Rotating Shifts
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience operating heavy/farm equipment is a plus

Computer Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Applications; ability to learn new software programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands/ finger (repetitive motion), walk, stand, bend, squat, kneel, twist, crawl, lift (10lbs-50lbs) reach, communicate, balance. Must be able to physically access all areas of underground mine; must be able to wear hard had , steel toe boots, safety glasses, safety cap and lamp, respirator, electrical arc flash and be able to work in high reach areas. Employee occasionally sits and operates heavy machinery,

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, working at heights/high altitudes and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employee must be able to work shift rotation, wear full body harness when applicable, walk on uneven ground and perform repetitive motion.
