We are currently seeking to fill a Coordinator position within the Sports Division.

The Community Services Department is responsible for providing enriching, fun, and meaningful opportunities for the community to come together. The department operates the Epicenter Sports Complex, RC Family Resource Center, RC Sports Center, Victoria Gardens Cultural Center, Goldy S.

Lewis Community Center, and James L. Brulte Senior Center. In addition to the above-listed facilities, more than 30 different parks are open to the community for passive use, park shelters and event rentals, hiking trails, athletic fields, and city-planned special events.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING HERE AT TEAM RC The Sports Coordinator oversees the development, operations, and daily management of the RC Sports Center, including scheduling, staffing, facility rentals, and partnership coordination.

Additional responsibilities include supervising staff and volunteers, managing program budgets, collaborating with community organizations, ensuring safe and positive participant experiences, maintaining program and facility records, and supporting departmental goals and special events. The Sports Coordinator will: Manage facility rentals by working with private individuals, community groups, government agencies, and businesses; promote rental opportunities to increase utilization. Oversee daily operations of sports programs and events, including scheduling, staffing, logistics, site supervision, and addressing participant or community concerns.

Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate parttime staff; ensure teams deliver high-quality customer service. Coordinate with internal departments to support facility operations, maintenance, and program delivery. Monitor and maintain safe, clean, and functional facilities and equipment; identify hazards, ensure timely repairs, and enforce safety protocols and training.

Manage facility bookings using scheduling software and maintain accurate usage records. Track equipment and supply inventory; order and manage resources within approved budgets. Assist with budget development and oversight, including monitoring expenses and preparing recommendations for staffing, equipment, and supplies.

Prepare and maintain reports on facility usage, program performance, revenues, expenses, and participation trends. Ensure effective operational procedures for rentals, programs, and special events. Communicate program updates, policies, and information to staff, supervisors, volunteers, and the public; participate in meetings and support departmental initiatives.

Maintain professional knowledge through training, networking, and participation in relevant organizations. Ideal Candidate The ideal Sports Coordinator is an energetic, motivated professional skilled in recreation and sports programming, facility operations, and customer service. They bring strong administrative abilities, experience working with diverse community groups, and the capacity to lead staff and support a high-quality sports center environment.

Key Qualifications and Skills Experience working with the general public, school districts, community groups, and volunteers. Strong knowledge of sports programs and experience collaborating with public agencies, businesses, and community organizations. Experience with facility scheduling and coordinating space usage.

Ability to build, train, and develop an effective team. Strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to excellent customer service. Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Initiative to ask questions, seek guidance, offer solutions, and take responsibility. Excellent judgment and strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to organize and maintain accurate digital and physical records. Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and respectful conduct with the community and coworkers. Ability to maintain and strengthen positive working relationships internally and externally.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED Education and/or Experience: Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree with major coursework in recreation or a related field and two years of experience in the implementation of cultural and recreation programs or activities or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities. Substitution: A total of four years of professional-level experience in recreation or related field and two years of experience in the implementation of cultural and recreation programs or activities may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and programs common to the field of recreation and leisure services; methods for identifying community recreation needs.

Ability to effectively work with people having varied socio-economic standings; prepare and present concise written and oral reports; promote recreation and leisure programs; supervise aides and volunteers. Special Requirements Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. First Aid and CPR certification required within 60 days of employment.
