Positionย  ย Crossing Guard Paraprofessional Location ย Cottage Grove Elementary School Hours per Day
Start and End Times
ย 1 hour per day - Tuesdays only
ย 8:15 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.
Starting Base Pay ย $21.93 per hourย  Anticipated Start Date ย September 2, 2026 Available for Application ย June 5, 2026 - June 10, 2026 or until filled Highly Qualified Information This position is eligible for an additional $.50 per hour once Highly Qualified status is achieved (2 or 4 year degree, OR 60 semester credits OR successful completion of the Para Pro which is offered by the district regularly).ย  Classification ย Supervisory

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide a safe traveling environment for all students walking to and from school.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:



  1. Directly supervises the safe crossing of students at designated hazardous crosswalks.
  2. Assist the school principal in the appointment of student school safety patrols.
  3. Maintain an accurate list of the school safety patrols. Provide accurate list to the Transportation Student Safety/Crossing Guard Manager.
  4. Monitor, document, and offer corrective behavior measures to student school safety patrols and student pedestrians.ย  Report student school safety patrols to the school principal if there are issues and behaviors that cannot be immediately remedied.
  5. Attend all adult crossing guard meetings as required.
  6. Perform fall and spring evaluations of student school safety patrols.
  7. Assist with organizing, coordinating and chaperoning events for student school safety patrols.
  8. Maintain and update all school safety patrol equipment.
  9. Meet quarterly with the school safety patrols.
  10. Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
  11. Maintain a high level of fairness, confidentiality, respect and equity for all students, staff and families.
  12. Other duties as assigned.


ย JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
Required:


  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Competencies as required by State of Minnesota, Federal government, and/or District 833.
  3. Proven teamwork, confidentiality, and communication skills.
  4. Models appropriate behavior, neat appearance, and proper grammar usage for all students.ย  Helps provide a positive learning environment.
  5. Actively participate in district-sponsored training when offered.
  6. Ability to perform routine computer functions, including email, Internet navigation and Microsoft Word.
  7. Ability to pass Paraprofessional fitness for duty tests.
  8. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  9. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  10. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
  11. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
