DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS

Department: Leadership Team
Reports To: Vice President of Programs & Operations

DESCRIPTION OF JOB FUNCTION

The Director of Programs is responsible for leading the design, quality, and consistency of programming across all Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County Sites (including one site in Morgan County). This role serves as the organizational lead for program strategy and development, ensuring that all youth programming is engaging, relevant, and aligned with organizational youth outcomes, including Health & Well-Being, Character & Leadership, Academic Success, and Workforce Readiness.


This position plays a critical role in defining and strengthening the overall Club Experience by developing program models, establishing quality standards, and supporting Club Directors in effective program implementation. The Senior Director of Programs partners closely with organizational leadership to drive continuous improvement in program impact, participation, and youth outcomes.

PROGRAM STRATEGY & DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development, design, and continuous improvement of programming across all Club locations
    Establish clear program standards and expectations aligned with organizational priorities
    Ensure programming is developmentally appropriate, engaging, and responsive to youth needs
    Identify trends and emerging opportunities to keep programming relevant and impactful
    Develop and refine program curriculum, frameworks, and seasonal offerings
    Partner with leadership to align programming with organizational goals and priorities

PROGRAM QUALITY & ACCOUNTABILITY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the overall quality and consistency of programming across all Club sites
    Develop and implement tools to assess and measure program quality
    Partner with Club Directors and leadership to ensure accountability for program implementation
    Monitor participation, engagement, and overall program effectiveness across sites
    Support the development of benchmarks related to attendance (ADA), participation, and youth outcomes
    Drive continuous quality improvement efforts across all program areas

FUNCTIONAL LEADERSHIP & CLUB SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide functional leadership and direction to Club Directors and program staff in all areas of programming
    Coach, train, and support Club Directors in delivering high-quality programs
    Lead the development and delivery of staff training related to program implementation, quality, and youth engagement
    Ensure Club staff are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to deliver high-quality programming
    Establish clear expectations for program execution while maintaining a collaborative partnership model
    Communicate program standards, updates, and expectations consistently across all sites
    Support Club Directors in problem-solving and strengthening program delivery

WORKFORCE READINESS & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the integration of workforce readiness, life skills, and leadership development into programming
    Support the development of career exploration and skill-building opportunities for youth
    Lead the planning, implementation, and overall success of the Youth of the Year program across the organization
    Partner with the Director of Teen Services and other leaders to align youth development strategies
    Ensure programming prepares youth for success beyond the Club experience

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & PARTNERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with schools, businesses, and community organizations
    Support program-related grant requirements and ensure alignment with deliverables
    Represent the organization in community initiatives and program-related activities
    Leverage community partnerships to expand opportunities and resources for youth

DATA, OUTCOMES & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize program data, participation trends, and youth feedback to inform decision-making
    Support the development of systems to track program outcomes and effectiveness
    Partner with leadership to establish measurable outcomes related to program impact
    Ensure programming is outcome-driven and aligned with organizational priorities

OPERATIONS & PROGRAM SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure systems are in place to support effective program delivery, including training, materials, and resources
    Support coordination of program resources across Club locations
    Participate in organizational planning, meetings, and leadership initiatives

  • Measurable progress in youth outcomes across Health & Well-Being, Character & Leadership, Academic Success, and Workforce Readiness.

ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regular evening hours and occasional weekends based on program and organizational needs
    Travel between Club locations within Weld and Morgan County
    Participation in organizational events, trainings, and leadership meetings
    Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications (or obtain within 90 days)
    Hold a valid drivers license and be insurable to drive Club vehicles
    Perform other duties as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Education, Human Services, Youth Development, or related field (or equivalent experience)
    4+ years of experience in youth development, nonprofit programming, or related field
    Experience leading programs across multiple sites or teams
    Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
    Experience working with youth programming in diverse community settings
