Job Title: Early Learning Center Preschool Classroom Assistant
Primary Role
The Preschool Classroom Assistant supports the teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This role assists with implementing curriculum, supervising students, interacting with students and modeling appropriate actions, supporting daily routines such as meals, hygiene, and rest time. The Assistant also greets families, communicates messages, and helps maintain accurate documentation. By combining care, supervision, and professionalism, the Preschool Classroom Assistant plays a vital role in fostering student growth and supporting the success of the preschool program.
Key Accountabilities
Job Specific Responsibilities
- Work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support implementation of the preschool curriculum and daily activities.
- Provide assistance with toileting, hygiene, and meal service to meet students' developmental and personal care needs.
- Actively interact with students and supervise all activities throughout the day, including outdoor play, rest time, drop-off, and pick-up.
- Follow required health and sanitation procedures to maintain a safe and clean classroom environment.
- Assist with data collection and assessments as directed by the teacher to monitor student growth and development.

Collaboration and Communication
- Greet families warmly at arrival and dismissal, supporting positive relationships with the school community.
- Communicate family messages and concerns to the teacher in a timely and professional manner.
- Complete incident reports in the teacher's absence to ensure accurate documentation of student safety and behavior.
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher and other staff to ensure students' needs are consistently met.
Professional Standards, Growth, and Compliance
- Complete background checks, required screenings, and maintain compliance with all licensing requirements.
- Participate in and document completion of a minimum of 12 hours of annual training.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to students and families.
- Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and respect in interactions with children, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or the equivalent
- CPR and Basic First Aid required upon 90 days of hire
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
