Job description

THE POSITION Located in Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Drug & Alcohol is seeking a part-time Prevention Specialist Trainee. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role supports prevention and intervention programs for schools, parents, and community groups. It involves assisting senior staff with planning activities, maintaining program records, and helping evaluate prevention efforts. As a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist Trainee, you will perform the following duties: Program Support: Assist in carrying out school and community prevention activities Training Assistance: Help prepare and deliver educational programs and presentations Record Management: Maintain prevention records and enter data into the state system Needs Assessment: Take part in evaluating programs and identifying community needs SAP Participation: Serve as a liaison at SAP meetings after required training Work Schedule and Additional Information: Seasonal, part-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Start time and hours depend on school schedule. Employee works during school year, occasionally during other times, as needed. Employee may have overnight travel or out of County travel for meetings or training.

Position requires flexibility for irregular and evening hours. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
