Job description
Help scale Affordable and Workforce housing by leading a high-impact origination team within Community Development Banking. You'll shape regional outcomes while partnering with national leaders, client coverage, and credit stakeholders on complex, mission-oriented financings. This role offers executive-level influence, people leadership, and ownership of the client experience across the full origination lifecycle.
As a Credit Originations Manager - Regional Lead, Executive Director within Community Development Banking (CDB), you will lead a regional team responsible for the end-to-end new loan origination process for CDB clients, including evaluating opportunities, structuring transactions, managing the credit approval workflow, and driving disciplined execution through closing and post-close handoff. Your leadership will ensure consistent underwriting quality, strong partnership with Client Executives and Credit/Risk stakeholders, and a high-quality client experience across complex affordable housing construction and permanent lending structures.
In this role, you will be accountable for regional origination outcomes, team leadership, and consistent execution of the CDB credit origination lifecycle (evaluation/structuring, credit approval coordination, documentation/closing leadership, and ongoing transaction-related requests and escalations).
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a regional team of Credit Originators, including resource management, performance management, and coverage planning; maintain the ability to directly originate/cover clients when business needs require
- Drive results across the region using clear leadership principles (e.g., deliver outcomes, enable the team, lead inclusively, and grow talent)
- Evaluate new loan opportunities and guide the team in identifying key strengths/risks to inform decision-making and execution approach
- Coach the team on structuring complex affordable/workforce housing loans and coordinating the credit approval process in partnership with Client Executives, Primary Credit Officers, Credit Executives, and Client Associates
- Serve as escalation point to unblock the team and drive consistency in term sheet/LOI development, negotiation, documentation execution, and closing readiness (including due diligence coordination and senior management presentations as needed)
- Partner with Client Executives to support client strategy execution and ensure originations activity aligns to client objectives and franchise priorities
- Provide oversight and challenge on key origination deliverables (e.g., underwriting outputs, credit approval packages/memos, risk rating recommendations), ensuring quality, completeness, and timeliness
- Ensure adherence to underwriting standards, approval requirements, and applicable policies/procedures; drive communication and implementation of policy/process updates and best practices across the region
- Invest in talent development by training, mentoring, and coaching junior team members and strengthening overall team capabilities
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- Minimum 10 years of commercial banking/lending experience, including substantial credit structuring, closing, and loan documentation experience
- Demonstrated experience structuring and underwriting real estate lending transactions; experience with affordable/workforce housing (preferred focus)
- Strong command of credit risk concepts, transaction structuring, and end-to-end execution management
- Excellent communication skills; ability to clearly articulate rationale, influence stakeholders, and engage confidently with senior management, clients, and internal partners
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, counsel, and cross-functional partners (Credit Risk, legal, closing, construction/disbursement stakeholders)
- Significant accounting/finance knowledge and strong analytical and business writing skills
- Completion of a major corporate or investment banking credit training program
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- BA/BBA Degree
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- MBA
- Familiarity with JPMorganChase (or similar) policies, procedures, and credit approval systems/processes
