KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Manages, reviews, and coordinates development permit and subdivision plat applications associated with various land disturbance projects within the Consolidated Government, including re-zoning, special exceptions and variances: processes commercial and residential projects; coordinates plan review meetings for project approval with other Consolidated Government departments and outside agencies; reviews forms and applications for accuracy and completeness; performs floodplain management and hazard mitigation duties; and ensures plans are in compliance with applicable development regulations,
- Researches ordinances related to development and zoning concerns: prepares amendments and updates to land development ordinances as assigned; and makes recommendations regarding new ordinances and amendments to existing ordinances.
- Coordinates the Development Review Committee: communicates with committee members; schedules meetings and prepares meeting agendas; compiles and distributes applications and plans to be reviewed; facilitates review process; and takes and distributes meeting minutes.
- Attends meetings, serves on committees, and makes presentations as needed: participates in and represents the department at review committees, task forces, policy committees, multi-jurisdictional meetings, staff meetings, homeowners associations, workshops or other community events.
- May perform tree plan review and site inspections: reviews plans for tree preservation on new projects; conducts site inspections for tree preservation, tree protection fencing, landscaping, and related concerns; facilitates meetings with pluc, engineers, developers, landscaping contractors, construction personnel and others; and reviews permits, plans and sites for compliance with applicable tree ordinances.
- Monitors related financial activities and programs: monitors and oversees expenditures for Flood Buyout Program and Tree Commission Mitigation Account; and processes and maintains related financial forms and documentation.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Engineering or a related field required.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in plan review, community development, zoning, or permitting.

High School diploma/GED with Ten (10) years' experience in Urban Planning, Urban Design, or Regional Planning
Licensing/Certification:
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- CFM preferred (Certified Floodplain Manager)
- AICP preferred (American Institute of Certified Planners)
Other:
- This position require staff call up in an emergency situation.
- Travel from office to other locations is required for this position.

- Physical Abilities: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
- Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
