Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The surgical technologist intern is a member of the surgical team who works closely with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist, and registered nurse in delivery of patient care pre-operatively, intra-operatively and post-operatively. Acts in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards as prescribed by the Governing Board, Hospital Administration and Patient Care Services of Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalent. Acceptance in Beaufort Memorial's PATH program for OR Technology. Completion of didactic portion of Medcerts TS-C program.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:
Completion of 30 OR clinical cases where applicant will first scrub with at least 4 different specialties represented.
Recommendation from PATH Faculty.

Entry level position
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to communicate effectively with all staff.
Demonstrate good problem solving skills.
Strong organizations skills and effective time management.
CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES:
BLS required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association)

1. Surgical Services within the hospital. May be stressful dealing with individuals, staff, patients, and family. Potential exposure to radiation/toxic materials. Regularly exposed to Blood Borne materials (Category I) or Chemical Hazards.
2. Prolonged, extensive or considerable walking and standing. Assists with lifting, transport and moving patients. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching. Rotating shifts. 8-12 hour intervals. Available for call.
