Job description

Text "AUDINTERN27" to (317) 825-8998 to apply!

At DOZ, we believe stronger communities start with equitable housing and community development. That is why we focus almost exclusively on serving the affordable housing and community development industries. We partner with clients across the country, helping them grow and adapt through high-quality, specialized accounting services. When our clients succeed, communities become stronger and more equitable. It is meaningful work.

What to Expect

This is a full-time, in-office internship running from January through mid-March. Interns work an average of 55 hours per week, with peak weeks reaching up to 65 hours during the height of busy season. We share that upfront so you can come in prepared and with a clear understanding of the experience.

What You'll Do

  • Complete a structured onboarding and training program before working on client engagements

  • Participate in all phases of an audit, including planning, fieldwork, and financial statement preparation

  • Collaborate with an Audit team to help complete more than 35 audits from start to finish

  • Prepare draft audit reports for review and feedback from senior team members

  • Manage work across multiple client engagements simultaneously, building experience in the affordable housing and community development industry

  • Meet regularly with your in-charge to review progress and continue developing your skills

What We're Looking For

  • Accounting major working toward the credit-hour requirements needed to sit for the CPA exam

  • Cumulative GPA and major GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred

  • Completion of at least one intermediate accounting course before the internship begins preferred

  • Ability to take leave from spring semester classes and commit to 55 or more hours per week during the internship

  • Reliable transportation to and from the office

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship

  • Entrepreneurial, hardworking, and adaptable, with strong critical-thinking skills and a willingness to take on new and challenging assignments

What You'll Get

  • Compensation: This position pays $29.00 to $48.00 per hour. Actual compensation within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, and, where applicable, other job-related factors permitted by law

    • This position is not eligible for bonuses, commissions, or employee benefits, except as required by applicable law

    • This pay range reflects a good-faith estimate of the compensation for this position in accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws
Real experience working through the same busy season as full-time Associates

  • Mentorship at three levels: a DOZ Buddy for day-to-day support, a Partner or Principal Lead for professional development, and an HR Lead for overall guidance

  • Honest, regular feedback so you know where you stand and how to improve

  • Close collaboration with your team throughout the internship

  • Consideration for full-time opportunities for strong performers

  • An introduction to the DOZ Charitable Foundation and opportunities to stay involved after the internship ends
