About the Role

Join our Team! The City of Kentwood is seeking Community Center Attendants to support daily operations at our Community Center. In this role, you'll serve as the first point of contact for members and guests while helping ensure a welcoming, efficient, and well-organized facility.

This position plays a key role in customer service, facility operations, and food and beverage service. From assisting with memberships and registrations to preparing food and maintaining clean, safe spaces, you'll help create a positive experience for everyone who visits.


What You'll Do
  • Greet members, guests, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
  • Answer phone calls and provide information on memberships, programs, and facility use
  • Assist with memberships, registrations, admissions, reservations, and retail transactions
  • Operate point-of-sale and registration systems accurately and efficiently
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages, including coffee, smoothies, and alcoholic beverages
  • Verify memberships and facility access using electronic systems
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk, bistro, dining, and public areas
  • Handle cash transactions and balance drawers in accordance with procedures
  • Monitor inventory, restock supplies, and assist with deliveries
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports
  • Respond to customer concerns and escalate issues when needed
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and operational policies and procedures
  • Assist with emergency response situations as needed

About You

You're friendly, reliable, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You're comfortable multitasking, providing excellent service, and contributing to a team that keeps operations running smoothly.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of customer service, food service, hospitality, recreation, retail, or related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • MLCC-approved alcohol server training (TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol, or equivalent) within 90 days of hire
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a dynamic environment
  • Basic computer and cash handling skills
