Job description

Basic Purpose:
A Personal Banker plays a pivotal role in the culture and success of Huron Community Bank. This position applies a consultative approach to sales and service, resulting in deeper relationships and customer loyalty. It also takes ownership in the branch, its operations and team, creating an environment that is safe, productive and empowering. Requires the ability to provide coverage at the assigned branches when necessary.
This position is responsible for achieving sales goals. It also has the following principal accountabilities:
Customer Experience:
Provide a consistent and exceptional customer service experience to everyone, with a smile.
  • Listen/seek to understand before making recommendations, keeping the customers best interest in mind.
  • Deliver on promises. Strive to exceed expectations.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism both in and outside the bank.

Transaction Processing:
Receives, pays out monies, balance cash drawer with minimal assistance and within policy.
Processes daily transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing and payments accurately, and balances work to system with minimal assistance.
Assists with support work including, but not limited to, night drop, ATM balancing, safe deposit box, debit card set up, branch capture, and preparing courier bags for transit.
    • Deposit Accounts/Loans:
  • Open, maintenance and close accounts
  • Interview consumer loan applicants and collect proper loan qualification documentation.
  • Conduct consumer loan closings
  • Identify potential referral opportunities for other lines of business within the bank.
  • Adhere to New Customer/New Account Follow Up Procedures
  • Service the existing customer portfolio as well as prospect for new relationship.
    • Bank Operations:
  • Assist the Head of Retail Banking, HR Director, Senior Management and other departments as requested.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the branch office(s).
  • Assist with cash audits
  • Assures accurate and timely preparation of branch reports.
  • May participate in interviewing and training new personnel.
  • May participate in the preparation and facilitation of performance evaluations of branch staff.
  • May participate in coaching of branch staff.
  • Performs various clerical duties including answering phone, typing, filing and preparing check orders.
  • Ensures compliance/adherence to all policies, procedures and federal regulations in order to attain a satisfactory or better branch audit. Maintains confidentiality of all customer records and documents.
  • Active participation in community sponsored events and active involvement in community. Pro-active ambassadorship on behalf of HCB, promoting HCB as a "community" bank, establishing new professional relationships and enhancing existing relationships through networking and a commitment to the community.
  • Report to work on time and maintain good attendance is an essential function of your job and necessary for our bank to operate efficiently.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Capable of operating a 10 keypad with accuracy and moderate speed. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated leadership skills such as organizing, problem solving and decision-making.
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
Must be able to operate computer and other office machines such as fax, calculator, copy machines, typewriters, coin/currency counter, and any machines or office equipment.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
No unusual physical exertion required. Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. Position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, up to eight hours. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax, copier, calculator, telephone and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:
Must be an extrovert who enjoys helping people. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Must be able to do simple math calculations, think logically, attention to detail, accuracy and ability to organize work.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a typical bank setting, no particular hazards or unusual physical exertion required. Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends, if necessary. Overtime is limited. Must be able to travel between bank branches, and other areas, if necessary.
