Community Associate Jobs in Kentucky (NOW HIRING)

The South Asian American Justice Collaborative (SAAJCO) is a national civil rights organization that fights for the civil and human rights of South Asian communities through legal advocacy, community engagement, and narrative power.

SAAJCO is seeking a resourceful, highly organized, and collaborative Community Initiatives Associate to support our community programs, events, outreach, and communications.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Associate will help coordinate and implement SAAJCO’s community facing work, including trainings, events, community outreach, and volunteer engagement . This role will focus on the coordination, implementation, logistics, and follow-through that move SAAJCO’s community programs from planning to execution.

The Associate will support the Program Manager’s work on initiatives including SAAJCO’s Resource Line, Know Your Rights programming, election protection efforts, community mobilization training, and Community Advocate Program. The Associate will also help coordinate Meet & Greets and other community events and provide communications support as needed.

Candidates based in Texas are strongly preferred.

• Support implementation of SAAJCO’s community programs and initiatives, including the Resource Line, Know Your Rights programming, election protection efforts, community mobilization training, and Community Advocate Program.
• Coordinate virtual and in person trainings, Meet & Greets, community conversations, and other public programs.
• Manage event logistics, including scheduling, invitations, registrations, materials, speakers, vendors, technology, and follow up.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with community organizations, volunteers, advocates, bar associations, and other partners in coordination with the Program Manager.
• Coordinate outreach, recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing engagement of volunteers and Community Advocates.
• Maintain project timelines, contact lists, program records, and other systems that help keep programs organized and moving forward.
• Draft community facing communications, including outreach emails, event announcements, newsletters, partner updates, and program materials.
• Provide additional communications support when needed, including social media content, legal case updates, public statements, and outreach materials.
• Work with SAAJCO staff to help translate legal, civic, and policy developments into clear and accessible information for community audiences.
• Represent SAAJCO at community meetings and events when appropriate.
• Support other community engagement priorities as needed.

• At least two to three years of relevant experience in nonprofit programs, community engagement, communications, advocacy, organizing, events, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Experience coordinating events, trainings, programs, or community initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with community members, volunteers, or partner organizations.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on details, and take initiative while working collaboratively.
• Strong judgment and a demonstrated commitment to civil rights, immigrant rights, racial justice, democracy, or issues affecting South Asian communities.
• Comfort handling both substantive program work and the practical details required to execute it well.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and commonly used communications, event, or project management tools.
• Availability for occasional evening or weekend events and periodic travel.

• Experience working with South Asian, immigrant, refugee, or other historically underserved communities.
• Familiarity with Texas’s community, nonprofit, civic engagement, or advocacy landscape.
• Experience supporting Know Your Rights, civic engagement, election protection, or community resource programs.
• Experience drafting outreach materials, newsletters, social media content, or other external communications.
• Proficiency in a South Asian language.

Location: Texas preferred; remote within the United States may be considered

Reports to: Program Manager

Salary: $62,400 annually, plus benefits

Start Date: Immediately
