Job description

Program Manager, Communications
ABM is seeking a forward-thinking, creative, and curious communicator to join our Communications team, supporting ABM's Technology, Transformation, and Procurement functions - with primary focus on the Technology organization. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Executive and Strategic Communications, this role will work closely with technology leaders and project teams to shape and deliver communications that engage, align, and inspire team members.
Embedded within the Technology organization, this role is expected to integrate with teams and work closely with project leaders to "fly alongside" them as they develop and deploy new technologies, offerings, and transformation initiatives. A key function is to maintain clear, timely, and actionable communication across various channels related to changes, downtime, interruptions, and deployments. By being deeply familiar with technology initiatives, this role will anticipate communications needs and proactively support adoption, alignment, and engagement across ABM.
This is a critical role during an enterprise-wide digital transformation designed to elevate technology, streamline processes, and drive digital adoption. As part of ABM's talented and experienced Communications team, you'll collaborate with colleagues to share progress, growth, and new offerings from Technology, Innovation, and Transformation.
This is more than a communications role - it's a chance to bring fresh ideas and creative approaches to communications that accelerate adoption and build excitement. You'll help connect leaders with thousands of team members, highlight innovation in areas like AI, robotics, and data, and showcase how ABM is redefining what's possible in industries not traditionally seen as tech-forward. You'll also be a champion for AI and emerging technology within the Communications team itself - bringing back new tools, workflows, and ideas that help the whole team work smarter.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do
Communications Support & Partnership
  • Serve as a trusted communications partner for Technology, Procurement, and Transformation leaders and their project teams.
  • Act as a thought partner to technology and project leaders, contributing new ideas and strategies to elevate communication impact.
  • Develop and execute communications strategies that clarify technology priorities, enable transformation initiatives, and drive adoption of enterprise platforms.
  • Translate complex technical topics - including IT roadmaps, cybersecurity, applications, and process modernization - into clear, actionable messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Build productive relationships across the Technology organization, operations and other functions to strengthen alignment and engagement.
  • Provide issues management, business continuity, and crisis communications support in partnership with IT leadership, including availability for urgent communications needs outside of standard business hours.

Campaigns, Messaging & Content Packaging
  • Lead or support internal campaigns around system implementations, application upgrades, digital adoption, and enterprise change initiatives.
  • Ensure complex topics are simplified and packaged for ease of use across a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Create content such as FAQs, playbooks, intranet articles, leadership messages, Town Hall decks, and email communications.
  • Bring creative storytelling and bold ideas to make technology and transformation communications more engaging and accessible.

Channel & Platform Enablement
  • Optimize and expand communication channels to reach distributed audiences, from technical specialists to frontline team members.
  • Partner with IT to ensure communication platforms support adoption, clarity, and accessibility.
  • Maintain governance and editorial calendars for streamlined effective communications.

Special Projects & Transformation Initiatives
  • Support special projects related to technology and transformation initiatives, working directly with project leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Provide project-based communication support for strategic priorities, pilots, and enterprise-wide rollouts.

Insights & Continuous Improvement
  • Measure communications effectiveness and adoption rates using data and feedback; refine strategies for greater impact.
  • Stay current on best practices in technology change management, enterprise IT communications, digital workplace engagement, and emerging AI tools.
  • Bring new ideas to the Communications team on how to better use technology and AI to improve the team's own work - from content creation to workflow efficiency.

Who You Are
  • A forward-thinking, bold, and creative communicator who thrives in the technology space.
  • A strategic thinker who aligns communication with larger business objectives.
  • A trusted partner who brings new ideas and collaborates closely with technology and transformation leaders to shape narratives.
  • Skilled at simplifying complex IT and technical concepts into clear, engaging stories.
  • A connector who establishes productive relationships across teams, functions, and levels.
  • Collaborative by nature and energized by working with a high-performing Communications team.
  • Curious and agile, able to balance strategy with execution while managing multiple priorities.
  • Genuinely interested in AI and emerging technology, and excited to bring new tools and ideas back to the Communications team.
  • Experienced in packaging change communications and repurposing complex information for broad use cases, including business development.
  • Calm under pressure, able to respond quickly and thoughtfully during issues or disruptions.

Qualifications
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in communications, ideally within a large corporate environment. Equivalent experience in related fields will also be considered.
  • A Bachelor's in Communications, Marketing.
  • Experience using a communications platform (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Constant Contact, Poppulo, etc.) to plan, publish, and manage content.

  • Proven success supporting technology leaders and project teams, and driving adoption of enterprise systems and digital tools.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, particularly in explaining technology to broad audiences.
  • Familiarity with IT processes, digital workplace tools, applications, and change adoption strategies.
  • Strong ability to package and translate technical and transformation progress into materials for multiple audiences - internal and external.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting issues management, business continuity communications, and crisis response, with flexibility to work off-hours when needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
  • Experience with enterprise collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Yammer/Viva Engage, Slack, or similar.
  • Familiarity with intranet content management systems and digital publishing tools.
  • Ability to use measurement and analytics platforms to track engagement and adoption.
