Job description

Position Summary

The Shipping/Receiving Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the daily flow of inbound and outbound materials while actively participating in warehouse operations. This position serves as the primary point of contact for shipping and receiving activities, ensuring inventory accuracy, documentation compliance, and timely communication between warehouse personnel, production, customer service, and transportation providers.


The Coordinator performs all duties of a Shipping/Receiving Operator while providing additional leadership in scheduling, prioritization, documentation, and problem resolution.


Essential Responsibilities:


Shipping & Receiving

  • Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks safely.
  • Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documentation.
  • Prepare outbound shipments to meet customer and carrier requirements.
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage, quantity, and quality concerns.
  • Accurately receive and ship transactions using the warehouse management system (WMS)/ERP.


Coordination

  • Coordinate daily shipping priorities with production and customer service.
  • Schedule carrier pickups and deliveries.
  • Monitor shipment status and communicate delays or issues.
  • Resolve discrepancies involving inventory, shipping documents, or damaged materials.
  • Maintain shipping logs and required records.


Inventory

  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Ensure proper material identification and storage.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies.
  • Support FIFO inventory practices.


Safety & Quality

  • Follow OSHA requirements and company safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized warehouse.
  • Promote safe forklift operation and proper material handling.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years warehouse shipping/receiving experience preferred.
  • Previous experience coordinating warehouse operations preferred.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office knowledge.


Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, climb, and reach throughout the shift.
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.
  • Work in varying warehouse temperatures.
