Job Summary:
The Tax Manager assists in overseeing the firm's tax compliance, reporting and planning functions along with reviewing complex tax returns, ensuring adherence to federal, state and local regulations, developing tax-savings strategies and mentoring Tax staff.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Ownership of tax return preparation of individual, trust and various types of business returns;
  • Direct client responsibilities and interaction;
  • Research and communicate complex tax issues;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records;
  • Ensure clients comply with IRS regulations and meet their state and federal tax obligations; and
  • Review client financial records, income statements and expenditures;
  • Assist clients with tax planning, identifying opportunities for both tax savings and great long-term decisions.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • 5+ years previous experience in a Tax Department of a Public Accounting firm or other significant tax experience;
  • Tax return preparation of individual, trust and various types of business returns;
  • Certified Public Accountant license;
  • Ability to research and communicate complex tax issues;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and
  • Willingness to interact directly with clients while delivering high quality service and helping maintain positive client relationships.

The Tax Manager should be proficient in the following or similar software:
  • Ultra Tax
  • Thomson Reuters Engagement Manager software (or similar trial balance software)
  • Microsoft Excel and Word
