Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Communication Technician II's in Rayville, LA. As a trusted partner in the construction industry, we connect top talent with top companies across the United States.

Job Type: Contract to Hire
Pay: $20 to $30 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:
  • The Communications Technician II will install a work area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks. Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to company labeling standards).
  • The Communications Technician II will build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware).  
  • Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).
  • The Communications Technician II performs testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable; use a tone set.
  • The Communications Technician II will identify active voice or data circuits.
  • The Communications Technician II will assume responsibility for effective performance of the crew and provide necessary training, coordinate personnel and timeline to complete the project.
  • The Communications Technician II will fully complete all company paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).
  • The Communications Technician II will adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
  • The Communications Technician II will complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field and demonstrate the ability to supervise others.
  • Must possess and be proficient with the listed tools.
  • Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
  • Must know the universal communications color codes.
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
Physical Requirements:
  • The Communications Technician II must be able to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • The Communications Technician II must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • The Communications Technician II must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Regular attendance is mandatory.
Pay Transparency  
The anticipated salary range for this position is $20 to $30 Per Hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
