Position Summary
The Athletics Department at Bryant University invites applications for the Athletics Communications Intern position. Bryant University is an NCAA Division I program, sponsoring 25 varsity sports, and is a member of the America East Conference as well as an associate member of the Coastal Athletic Association, Big South, and East Coast Conferences. This position reports to the Director of Athletics Communications (or designated athletics communications administrator).
The Athletics Communications Intern will assist the communications staff with promoting Bryant Athletics through written content, statistics, digital media, and game-day coverage, while gaining hands-on experience in NCAA Division I athletic communications. This is a 10-month position designed to provide immersive, practical experience across multiple sports throughout the academic year.
Compensation and Term:
This is a 10-month internship position that includes university-sponsored housing and a meal plan. Additional compensation details, work schedule, and start/end dates will be determined based on departmental needs and candidate eligibility.

Principal Accountabilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assisting with game-day operations, including statistical input, live scoring, and media coordination
  • Writing game recaps, previews, feature stories, and press releases for assigned sports
  • Assisting with maintenance and updates of the athletics website and digital platforms
  • Supporting the compilation and organization of statistics, records, and historical data
  • Assisting with social media content creation and coordination in collaboration with communications and marketing staff
  • Helping prepare game notes, media guides, and other publications
  • Assisting with credentialing, media requests, and press box operations
  • Working closely with coaches, student-athletes, and external relations staff to ensure accurate and timely information
  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as data entry, archiving content, and organizing digital assets
  • Performing other duties as assigned

This position requires availability nights and weekends, particularly during athletic competitions and special events.
Qualifications
Current undergraduate or graduate student in communications, journalism, sports management, public relations, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with athletic communications functions and interest in intercollegiate athletics
  • Experience with statistics software (e.g., StatCrew, Genius Sports, NCAA Live Stats) preferred
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms and digital content trends
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
